KBAs are globally significant sites for species or ecosystems and are therefore a high priority for conservation. The Secretariat supports the implementation of the KBA Programme of 13 Partners, focused on identifying, mapping, monitoring, and conserving sites critical for global biodiversity. In this role, he works with governments, scientists, and practitioners to train and support National Coordination Groups in identifying KBAs.
