To support the governments of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru to develop national roadmaps to achieve KM-GBF Target 3 by identifying and evaluating potential conservation areas based on their contributions to conserving biodiversity, addressing climate change, and fostering human well being. This work will take into account existing land governance and management, ecological connectivity, and national environmental and socio-economic priorities, drawing on approaches that ensure the full and effective participation of rights holders and stakeholders. A key part of this work will also be to evaluate biodiversity, climate, and human well-being value of existing protected areas and OECMs.

Inception Workshop and Working Groups
An inception workshop was held in each country to connect key national stakeholders and introduce the project and its vision while understanding how it directly supports national priorities regarding KM-GBF Target 3. It was also an occasion to understand the science behind the upcoming national analysis and identify national and global geospatial data to support the project’s activities. Following the inception workshops, two national working groups were established for the project, focusing respectively on policy and science, to guide the project's work at the national level.
Second workshop
After the working groups, each country held a second workshop whose main objective was to present the progress made in the implementation of the project. This involved reviewing the web-based prioritization tool and the co-creation of the Spatial Prioritization maps for Peru and Ecuador.
