Eva Bortolotti currently works at the UNDP Nature Hub to enable finance to accelerate the successful implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In her global role, she supports a range of projects related to nature finance and private sector engagement, among which the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), the Nature Investment Facility (NIF), and the country implementation of other innovative financing instruments for nature. Prior to joining the UNDP Nature Hub, Eva worked at the UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub in Geneva, where she supported the positioning of the UNDP SDG Finance offer, the implementation of SMEs finance projects across Africa and Latin America, and the engagement with the Swiss private sector ecosystem. Before joining UNDP, she worked as consultant for different UN agencies and research centres, including the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), the United Nations 75 Initiative (UN75), and the Centre for International Environmental Studies (CIES), producing qualitative and quantitative research on sustainable development, social and environmental policy, and sustainable finance. Eva holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Geneva Graduate Institute, where she graduated with a research project on environmental finance fully funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Andrew Bovarnick is a global expert in sustainable development, food systems, and environmental economics, with over 30 years of experience at the forefront of international efforts in agriculture, biodiversity, forest conservation, protected areas, and natural resource management.
As UNDP’s Global Head of Food Systems, Andrew leads work to transform food systems through deep collaboration, systems thinking, mindset shifts, and more recently power dynamics. He founded the Green Commodities Programme in 2010 and has since built a global team and strategy that positions food systems at the core of UNDP’s development agenda. A recognized voice in the field, Andrew frequently speaks at global events and serves on advisory boards for sustainability and research initiatives. Prior to UNDP, he worked as a senior consultant in environmental policy and natural resource economics.

Martin is the Global Programme Manager of the UNDP Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), with over 15 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, environmental policy, and project management. Since joining UNDP in 2011, he has supported integrated nature–climate solutions, provided policy and capacity-building assistance to more than 60 countries, and led global knowledge-sharing communities of practice. His work includes developing biodiversity monitoring systems and leading participatory processes for national nature-related strategies, including nature finance. Martin holds an M.Sc. in Ecology from National University of Mexico and a B.Sc. in Biology from UDLAP.

María Verónica holds a Civil Engineering degree from the Catholic University of Guayaquil and a Master’s in Environmental and Water Resources Systems from Cornell University.

Her role bridges the scientific and policy teams within the Nature for Development Programme, contributing to the curation, management, and processing of both global and national datasets, and supporting technical workshops and training. Since joining the Nature for Development Programme, Liliana has supported projects in Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa, and Cuba. Working in close collaboration with national counterparts, she helps guide participatory spatial planning, the co-creation of national roadmaps, and context-specific capacity strengthening aligned with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. She brings a strong interdisciplinary background in biology, environmental management and spatial analysis, with over 15 years of experience working at the interface of science, public policy, and sustainable development.

Prior to UNDP, Ciara worked on gender and human rights, including with the Gender, Peace and Security Programme of UN-INSTRAW (now part of UN Women). She holds a Master of Science degree in Gender, Development and Globalisation from the London School of Economics.

Richard Field has for 25 years researched and taught about biodiversity patterns of both plants and animals around the world. He has published ~100 papers in leading scientific journals from this work and is Editor-in-Chief of a leading journal in this area. For three years he has been applying this expertise to developing and assessing biodiversity monitoring methodologies, to support the emerging market in biodiversity credits. He co-leads the Integrating Biodiversity and Finance research programme, funded by the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council, with the specific role of developing high-integrity nature finance. He is a leading, founder member of the Biodiversity Credit Alliance, was Technical Co-Lead on the Measurement working group of the International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits, chairs the Biodiversity Futures Initiative, and is part of the IPBES Monitoring Assessment.

He is responsible for UNDP’s work on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the Nature Investment Facility, the Biodiversity Credit Alliance and the Tiger Landscapes Investment Facility. He previously managed BIOFIN for 10 years and was an advisor in Mongolia for the design of a clean air fund and the analysis of cleaner fuel subsidy options.

James has 20+ years of experience working at the food, nature and climate nexus, learning from and working alongside farmers, local and indigenous communities, governments and civil society in efforts to pursue sustainable and resilient development in harmony with nature. Prior to joining the Blue and Green Islands Intregated Program, James was the global manager for UNDP’s Food Systems Team. He also worked for many years as Ecosystems and Climate Change Technical Advisor for UNDP in Peru, where he managed the portfolio related to green finance, sustainable landscapes and conservation of ecosystems, and nature-based climate change adaptation and mitigation. He initiated his career with UNDP as a Carbon Finance Officer. Prior to UNDP, he worked for WWF in Peru, was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay, and collaborated for extended periods with the World Bank in Nicaragua and the Tropical Resources Institute in Mozambique. He holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Science with a specialization in social ecology and forest governance and a Master's Degree in Business Administration, both from Yale University. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology and education at Brown University, USA.

Marion Marigo is responsible for designing and successfully implementing spatial planning activities through the effective engagement of national stakeholders. Marion is responsible for the implementation of the project “Mapping Nature for People and Planet” in 13 countries, and explores upcoming opportunities to enhance national decision making through the use of scientific data. Working in English, French and Spanish, Marion’s responsibilities include: identifying and liaising with national counterparts, following the principles of a whole-of-society approach; coordinating efforts and activities with the science and policy teams; organizing and facilitating stakeholder consultations and follow-up activities; leading communication and promotional pieces; supervising logistical and administrative aspects of the project; and continuously exploring new streams of work to sustain and improve project outcomes and products over time. She also supports the development and use of UN Biodiversity Lab by Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Marion is also the coordinator for the GEF-funded Global Biodiversity Framework – Early Action Support (GBF-EAS) project, ensuring that Parties to the CBD take early action to align their national biodiversity targets on the newly adopted Kunming-Montreal GBF.

He has also served as the regional lead for a green energy initiative in Central America and as a programme officer in climate-smart agriculture and disaster risk management. He holds a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

Midori Paxton is the Director of the UNDP Nature Hub within the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support. Under the UNDP Nature Pledge for 2030, Midori leads UNDP’s work to support over 140 countries with a range of actions to implement the Global Biodiversity Framework, Land Degradation Neutrality, nature-based solutions for climate and SDGs, and other multilateral agreements. The thematic areas range from ecosystem management, biodiversity conservation, ocean and water governance, environmental governance, food system, biodiversity finance and work around value shift for behavioural change for nature and people.
Midori brings 30 years of experience and expertise at the interface of nature conservation and sustainable development at country, regional and global levels. She was the UNDP Head of Ecosystem and Biodiversity between 2016 and 2023, and a regional technical advisor based in Bangkok from 2010 to 2016, supporting countries in Asia with identification and implementation of ecosystems and biodiversity projects. Between 2000 and 2010, she worked in Namibia at the UNDP Country Office in Windhoek and also under the Directorate of Parks and Wildlife Management, Ministry of Environment and Tourism, coordinating a successful and innovative project to strengthen the national protected area system. She also took two UNV humanitarian assistance assignments as an information officer as part of the UN peace keeping operation in Somalia in 2004 and a field officer administrating refugee camps with UNHCR in Tanzania in 2006. Prior to that she worked as a journalist and staff writer for the Japan Times newspaper, covering environmental and human rights issues.
Midori holds a Master’s degree in Environment and Development from University of Cambridge. She is a prolific writer and is the author of six books and hundreds of published photos and articles.

Josie Raine is a Communication and Behavior Change Specialist in the Bureau of Policy and Programme Support at UNDP where she leads the value shift work under the UNDP Nature Pledge. Her work focuses on shaping strategic narratives, partnerships, and initiatives that elevate the role of Nature in achieving human development outcomes, aligning policy, finance, and practice with global environmental and development goals. A British national based in Nairobi, she previously served as a Climate Change Communication Specialist at UNEP and as Executive Director of Freeland Foundation, supporting counter-trafficking campaigns in Southeast Asia. Her background spans strategic communications and behavior change, beginning with UK government public information campaigns and including seven years in the United States running communications planning for Procter & Gamble's oral healthcare accounts. Josie has advised WHO, UNICEF, Médecins du Monde, in addition to brands and companies across many sectors and countries. Josie is a former guest lecturer at City University of New York.

In her most recent position, she has supported KBA training workshops, guided KBA proposals development, and developed training sessions on KBAs.

Radha Singla is a senior development professional with over 25 years of experience in advocacy, technical leadership, and thought leadership on Nature, Impact, and Systems Transformation. She works with UNDP Country Offices, Regional Bureaux, and partners across government, finance, and civil society to strengthen how Nature-positive sustainable development is designed, delivered, and demonstrated--bringing together rigorous measurement with strategic insights on policy, finance, and institutional change. Radha has played a key role in embedding the Nature Pledge within UNDP’s Strategic Plan Integrated Results and Resources Framework (IRRF) and currently supports the translation of global biodiversity and climate commitments into coherent, country-level portfolios. She advises on integrated approaches linking biodiversity, climate, food systems, governance, finance, and inclusion, while strengthening alignment across GEF and non-GEF Nature and broader Planet investments.
Radha holds a MSc in Climate Change from School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS), University of London, a MA in International Relations from School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, and a BA in Economics from University of Delhi.

Penny Stock is responsible for coordinating the implementation of UNDP’s Nature Pledge 2030. She also serves as Senior Technical Advisor on Ocean Finance and Small Island Developing States. She leads implementation of the GEF-financed Blue & Green Island Integrated Programme as well as UNDP’s engagement with the Global Fund for Coral Reefs and One Ocean Finance. She is a sustainable development expert with 20+ years of international experience working in diverse natural environments from marine to mountain and across thematic areas including ecosystems and biodiversity, climate adaptation, sustainable land use, and circular economy. Before her current role, she worked as a GEF Regional Technical Advisor supporting project development and implementation in the Africa and Asia Pacific regions. She began her career with UNDP in 1998 working for Capacity 21 and the GEF Small Grants Programme.

Doley Tshering is the Principal Technical Advisor for Ecosystems and Biodiversity at the UNDP Nature Hub, based in the Bangkok Regional Hub. He leads the Ecosystems and Biodiversity portfolio across Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe. In this role, he provides strategic direction and oversight to project implementation and results delivery of the UNDP’s biodiversity portfolio in these regions. He represents UNDP in relevant global forums and fosters collaboration with governments, international organizations, media, and civil society.
Doley also manages key UNDP key initiatives, including the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), the GEF Early Action Support Programme (EAS), the GEF Umbrella Programme for NBSAP Updates and Seventh National Reports, and partnerships such as Nature4Health and the Kunming Biodiversity Fund.
Previously, he served as Deputy Global Manager of the GEF SGP in New York and as Regional Technical Advisor at the Bangkok Hub, managing biodiversity and land degradation projects in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. He also managed the energy and environment portfolio at UNDP Bhutan earlier and held various roles in the Government of Bhutan before that.
