Consultation objectives
- Review the project vision and the findings from the first consultation and subsequent data collection process
- Overview of Systematic Conservation Planning (SCP), the science behind the project
- Weight – or rank the importance of – collected data sets on biodiversity, climate change, and human well-being
- Co-create and iterate upon Liberia’s ELSA map via the country’s ELSA webtool
- Discuss results of the analysis, potential application, and next steps

Course Content
ELSA Webtool training for Liberia
Additional training on Systematic Conservation Planning
We are excited to share a customized technical training on Systematic Conservation Planning (SCP) for Liberia. This optional additional training aims to provide an introduction to SCP, and explain clearly how SCP is used as part of the ELSA analysis . No previous experience in SCP is needed.
The training is developed by UNDP and PacMARA (Pacific Marine Analysis and Research Association). PacMARA is a Canadian charitable organization based in Victoria, British Columbia, of science and planning professionals dedicated to building and increasing capacity in marine and coastal planning in Canada and internationally.
The training focuses on :
- Introduction to Systematic Conservation Planning (SCP)
- Decision support tools for SCP
- Elements of the ELSA process
- Spatial data for mapping ELSAs
- Interpreting and communicating results
We will be generating a Certificate of Completion for learners who:
- Watch all the videos entirely, AND
- Answer the quizzes in each session correctly
